A Dream

People sometimes ask if I ever use material from my dreams as inspiration for my work. My umbrella answer is: No, because dreams are too patchy in their plotting. Deceptive, also: often I have shaken myself awake believing I had captured a gem of a story in my subconscious ramblings; but once the smoke surrounding the oneiric stage clears, I find myself holding unremarkable gravel.

A request for poetic literature recommendations...

I've always felt that one reason I fell for Ray Bradbury's writing as a boy was his prose poetry style, in which he paints pictures with words, the sound and shape of the words is as important as the content, it feels luxurious to read. Recently, when I read Steppenwolf, I was reminded of this love of mine by Hermann Hesse's poetic style, and realized there had been too few of such works in

Hi everyone :-)

I am just sharing my personal experience. I used to read lots of novels when I was young, but much less since I started working. I used to spend more time surfing on the web than reading a book. On my 40th birthday, my best friend offered me an ebook reader. That was a revelation. So easy and pleasant to use, so many books we can store!

The first thing I want to say is that Steppenwolf is one of the best, most deeply moving, and, for me, highly personal novels I've e

This web site is interesting to me because I enjoy classic and children's literature and reading books. Julia had recently ended a relationship with a beautiful, but bitter young man. Actually, he had been the one to end it. He’d often complained that he found her boundless optimism annoying, and he’d never really seem to share her sense of humor.

But she had been surprised and distressed by his abrupt departure from their anniversary p
